Elana was a Research Assistant, and during her time in the lab she researched how to use 3m PlanetScope imagery to map invasive algae growth in Oahu’s Maunalua Bay. The goal of this project is to help local resource managers understand the historical and future extent of algae cover without the need for extensive field surveys. In the past, she has volunteered with the Oahu Invasive Species Committee and Pacific Spirit Park Society, as well as interned with Malama Maunalua.
